 Thumbelina - Our heroine, Thumbelina is a young, high spirited girl from the world of the Little People. She is sent on a task to find the prince at the meadow of the tulips, a journey that proves to be a real challenge for one so tiny as her. |
|
 Father - Thumbelina's father is a wise old man also from the world of the Little People. His job of watch-keeper of the dam has him worrying and sensing the dangers that are soon to come. He realizes that the dam will break if something isn't done and all of the Little People's lifes are in danger. |
|
 The Swallow - From the moment he meets Thumbelina, the swallow proves to be a loyal friend, offering more than once the chance for Thumbelina to scape trouble and achieve her mission of rescuing the Little People from the waters. |
|
 Mona - She is first introduced as a kind and loving character, rescuing Thumbelina from the cold of winter, but we then find out otherwise. Mona takes advantage of Thumbelina's gratitude and plans on having her marry the ugly Mr. Mole in order for her to adquire goods. |

 Mr. Mole - An old, ugly mole who promises to take Thumbelina to the Meadow of the Tulips if she agrees to marry him. A promise that later proves to be false, since he plans on keeping her underground with him for the rest of her life, since moles don't like sunshine. |
|
 Big Bear - A kind, gentle creature who quickly befriends Thumbelina. Big Bear wishes he could help her on her journey, but as he knows, bears must hybernate through the winter. |
